Dr.JACOB JOHN obtained B.Sc. Agri. (1986), M.Sc. Agronomy (1993), Ph.D. Agronomy with first position in all three from Kerala Agricultural University (KAU). He has been working as an Agronomist in the KAU since 1999 and is currently Professor and Head, Integrated Farming System Research Station, Trivandrum, Kerala. His area of specialization is integrated farming/farming systems, especially in homesteads, and allelopathy. He is presently Principal Investigator (Chief Agronomist) of the All India Coordinated Research Project of the ICAR in Kerala, in which he has been working since 2005. Under his leadership, his centre received the best main centre award of AICRP on IFS (ICAR) during biennium 2016-18. His team of scientists received the best research team award from KAU in 2021. He is also the Project Coordinator in KAU of the project coordination group on “Farming Systems Research”. He has received 3 International, 4 National, and 9 State level awards. He was awarded Krishi Vigyan by the Kerala State Government for the best agricultural scientist in 2018. He was conferred Fellow of the Indian Society of Plantation Crops for his outstanding research contribution in plantation crops in 2014. He has been admitted as a Fellow of the Indian Society of Agronomy since 2017 for his outstanding research contribution in Agronomy. He has implemented research projects worth over Rs.6 crore and has come out with several significant research findings with field-level implications. He has authored 26 books, 17 book chapters, 3 Technical bulletins, and 145 research publications besides several popular scientific articles. He prepared the background reports for agroecological zone-based agricultural development for all districts of Kerala which have been published by the Kerala State Planning Board, Government of Kerala.
